Rawlings went on for the win, while 251 Lee Ribbans dived up the inside of 144 Evans in the closing laps and then overhauled 418 Barkham to come home second.

44 Chris Hill set the pace for the second heat, with 180 Mark Renwick chasing, before 130 Rawlings came through once again. Rawlings got round Renwick’s outside and then sat on Hill’s tail for the last few laps. Into the last bend, Hill made a slight mistake to go wide, and Rawlings dived up the inside for win number 2.

For the Final, 130 Rawlings was upgraded from blue to red, with 44 Hill making the early running before overhauled by 180 Renwick. 130 Rawlings made good progress once again, as 180 Renwick battled for the lead with 44 Hill and 352 Jamie Renwick. 180 Renwick suddenly suffered a mechanical problem and pulled off, handing the lead to 44 Hill, with 418 Barkham moving into second. 130 Rawlings caught the front pair, with 251 Ribbans and 858 Andy Miller right behind for a five way scrap. 44 Hill opened up a slight gap over his pursuers, before 130 Rawlings found a way past 418 Barkham and then dived up the inside of Hill to take the lead. The World Final saw the draw for grid positions place 564 Cooper and 199 Dodge on the front row, with 39 Moore and 520 Caton on row 2. Cooper pulled off on the rolling lap, with the start of the race seeing the field getting into a muddle on the home straight. 33! Reed got forced into the fence, where his front wheel was ripped off, sending him into a roll. He landed back on all fours (or rather threes!) and managed to get to the safety of the infield. 48 Clifford dished out a steam to 626 Bramley on the back straight, before 264 Welland rammed Clifford. 71 Carton weighed into 349 Allard on the home straight, as 904 Mitchell spun on turn 3 to tip onto two wheels. 48 Clifford was sent fencewards on turn 3, as 528 Hunt motored round in his rapid Wolseley to take the title.

The second race was over the Figure of 8, and proved to be very lively. The action started with 78 Macey getting followed in by the pack on turn 3, leaving his Rover snapped, as 917 Millen hooked out 39 Moore off turn 4. 415 Salvador met 206 King on the cross to spin him out, before 917 Millen landed a big hit on 39 Moore on the cross. 670 Flockton then collected 415 Salvador on the cross, splintering the hearse and sending bits flying high into the air, Salvador continuing with 395 Donworth hitting him into the pit bend, before 245 France buried himself in the back of Salvador’s hearse. 670 Flockton went on to hit 206 King on the crossover, before 814 Millen did likewise to Flockton a lap or two later. 814 Millen then collected 384 Golden on the 8 to spin him round, before hitting his third victim, this time 206 King. 46 Painter ran out the winner to end an excellent Figure of 8 race.

The Allcomers commenced with 377 Tompkins following in 614 Hide on the pit bend, as 48 Clifford tangled with 35 Jopling, the pair of them ending in the fence on the home straight. 46 Painter sent 439 Sutton into the wires on the back straight, causing Sutton’s Rover to spin round, Painter hitting Sutton again a couple of laps later to spin him out. 626 Bramley fenced 264 Welland at speed under the scoreboard, Welland losing a front wheel, as 46 Painter took the flag.

The DD saw 670 Flockton follow in 395 Donworth, the recovered Donworth then getting spun by 39 Moore. 245 France and 377 Tompkins went onto the infield, where 924 Millen crashed in, as 39 Moore gave 206 King a steam on the home straight. 395 Donworth met 245 France head-on, France and 377 Tompkins then having a head-on. 528 Hunt fenced 814 Millen on turn 1, Hunt taking a jacking from 395 Donworth. Donworth backed off, only to take a monster jacking from 39 Moore, and then get sandwiched back into 528 Hunt to jack the Westy even higher. Moore was blitzed by 670 Flockton, these two managing to back away from the jacking train, only for Moore to then get stuck on the infield kerb on the back straight. 206 King ran hard into Moore, with 377 Tompkins crashing into King and take a blitzing from 670 Flockton. The stadium was devoid of engine noise following this, with all cars having stopped moving, 670 Flockton taking the win.

Not too many returned for the Allcomers, which was soon headed by 557 Bowen. 349 Allard spun 24 Cuddihy, Cuddihy recovering to nicely fence 322 Newland on turn 4. 183 Strudwick hooked out 11 Thomas, 24 Cuddihy then fencing Thomas under the scoreboard, as 348 Sherwood rodded again and overhauled Bowen for a hattrick of wins.

322 Newland spun 346 Saunders on turn 3 at the start of the DD, Saunders rejoining to just catch the passing 154 de Paiva to spin him and send him over onto his side. The event was halted to right de Paiva, and he was allowed to rejoin, with 11 Thomas attacking 260 Reynolds on the restart. 322 Newland spun 154 de Paiva before taking a hit from 346 Saunders, sending 322 Newland over onto his roof and back onto his side on the infield of turn 4. The action continued with 349 Saunders steaming 11 Thomas into 346 Saunders, as 154 de Paiva T-boned 349 Allard. 322 Newland was returned to all fours by the infield marshals, and rejoined the event, as Allard jacked de Paiva. Newland then reversed into de Paiva, before giving Reynolds a head-on. De Paiva returned the hit to Newland, before taking a T-bone from Allard. Newland gave de Paiva a head-on, only to take a jacking from Allard, before de Paiva and Allard met head-on, with de Paiva backing off for the win.

He picked up a flat rear tyre on the last lap, but managed to keep going to take the win.

Final (35 cars): 53, 380, 21, 2, 16, 259, 515, 97, 242, 4.

GN (35 cars): 515, 2, 291, 21, 259, 16, 53, 380, 335, 244.

308 Steve Malkin Jnr headed the first heat, as 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr and 1 Stuart Smith Jnr swapped places. 12 Michael Scriven and 152 Neil Scothern spun on turn 3, before 41 Robert Broome got out of control on the back straight and mounted the infield kerb after bouncing off the fence. The race was halted as Broome had dropped some debris on the track, with 308 Malkin leading from 129 Steve Lewin and 441 John Lawn. Lawn put in the bumper to shift Lewin aside before overhauling Malkin. 515 Wainman moved through into second and hit Lawn into turn 3, Lawn keeping control to remain in the lead. Wainman’s car then picked up a problem on the pit bend and he retired to the infield, as 1 Smith came through, nerfing 291 Dan Squire wide on turn 4. However, 441 Lawn stayed in the lead to take the flag.

208 Steve Malkin Snr led the field round for heat 2, as 231 Mark Peters car went very smoky and he pulled off. 73 Rob Cowley was another early retiree, his car getting airborne as he jumped the infield kerb as he pulled off. 322 James Neachell and 53 John Lund tangled on the back straight, with Neachell collecting 242 David Nickolls as he rejoined the race, only to break his own car. 55 Craig Finnikin moved through to lead, as 208 Malkin went fencebound, and Finnikin went on to claim the win.

The third heat saw 333 Nick Jagger lead the early stages, as 2 Paul Harrison and 259 Paul Hines had a close battle. 383 Dave Johnson took over the running, with 8 Mick Harris, 244 Mick Rogers and 97 Murray Harrison in pursuit. The backmarking 280 Colin Nairn hit 383 Johnson wide, allowing 8 Harris to close, who then put in the bumper on turn 3 to half spin Johnson. Harris went into the lead, as 97 Harrison battled wih Johnson for second. 8 Harris was never headed and took the chequered.

The track was heavily watered for the consolation, causing a number of spin-outs including 41 Broome, who was hit head-on by 307 Tim Warwick. The yellow flags then came out, presumably for the fenced 162 Phil Elwood, although he got himself going again. However, he was made to retire to the infield for the restart, which seemed a little harsh, with 308 Malkin heading the restart. 291 Squire overhauled Malkin, with 16 Matt Newson moving into second. 225 Mark Clayton and 484 Craig Utley tangled on turn 4 to hit the leading Squire, but Squire kept control and remained in the lead, going on to take the win, with 515 Wainman shoving 16 Newson wide to take second.

212 Danny Wainman had an early spin on the home straight in the Final, and was hit by 12 Scriven, pushing Scriven’s front wheel back, as 1 Smith and 515 Wainman again traded hits. 515 Wainman then got caught up in a turn 4 melee, as 441 Lawn overhauled early leader 308 Malkin. However, Lawn went out as he was T-boned by a backmarker into turn 3, the race then being halted for 22 Will Yarrow, who was stuck on the inside of turn 4. 105 Bonner led the restart, before he was hit wide by 291 Squire, who took over. 380 Steven Cayzer, 53 Lund and 515 Wainman gave chase, with 1 Smith joining this group and shoving 53 Lund wide. 1 Smith continued to move through the places, as 515 Wainman spun on turn 3. Into the last bend 105 Bonner lunged at 291 Squire to send him wide, with 1 Smith also committed for a huge last bend hit, and he T-boned Bonner, the trio all going fencewards on turn 4. 53 Lund went from fourth to first round the last bend to take his second Coventry Final win of the year in a superb finish.

The National was headed by 308 Malkin, as 91 Tony Smith hitched a ride on 37 Chris Cowley’s nerf rail down the back straight. 197 Ryan Harrison followed in 321 Ed Neachell at speed on the town bend, and then rammed Neachell again, bringing out the yellow flags. 515 Wainman soon came through to lead on the restart, and went on to take the win, to end an average session, certainly not a patch on the level of action served up by the F2s the previous week at Coventry.

DD (12 cars): Null and void.

A good turnout of cars including a showing of material and a number of cars from last week’s Aldershot opener. 174 Curtis Rathbone was in a used DS420, 353 Sean Mullins returned his Heartbreaker Mk3 Granny limo, 32 Matt Small had his Aldershot Crown Custom estate and 267 Martin French had a Series 2 XJ coupe, while top cars were 461 Nathan Knowles’ Jag Mk2 and 260 Keith Reynolds’ Chevy Chevelle, the latter unfortunately failing to race.

Heat 1 saw a number of spin outs before 05 Carlos Perez followed in 196 Ben Harrison on turn 4. 360 Jack Reynolds had a rough ride down the back straight as he was struck by the traffic as 267 French took the win.

A slightly better heat 2 kicked off with a turn 3 shunt as 269 Dean French was fenced and then 174 Rathbone was crashed into by 2 Jonathan Bricknell, before being hit in the driver’s door by 283 Nigel Forton. 117 Mark Longley crashed into the pile up before getting jacked by 372 Martin Scully. 461 Knowles piled in on the next lap to get hit by 32 Small, as the spun 11 Steve Matthews was hit head-on by 648 Kyle Guyler to catch fire and bring out the red flags. On the restart, 32 Small gave 283 Forton a head-on, only to get jacked by 2 Bricknell, wrecking the Crown, as 200 Steve Farrell, 05 Perez and 218 Clelland raced round for the lead, with Farrell taking the win.

The Final saw 360 Reynolds take a jacking from 648 Guyler, as 617 Carl Overy took an early lead. Overy punted a few backmarkers aside on the bends, and hit 353 Mullins on the last lap on turn 1. However, Mullins attacked Overy on the last bend to spin him out, Overy slamming the car into reverse to cross the line, but 05 Perez had gone past to take the win.

The DD started with with 360 Reynolds blitzing 648 Guyler on turn 1, only to take a massive hit from 196 Harrison to total Reynolds. 2 Bricknell blitzed 139 Nick Stoffel on the home straight, 117 Longley T-boning Stoffel only to take a hit from 782 Glenn Boyce. The event was then stopped with 360 Reynolds trapped, and it was decided to call it a day at this point, Reynolds eventually getting freed and thankfully unhurt.

The opening meeting at this brand new track saw the weather looking a little dodgy, with a thunderstorm and heavy rain in the morning. However, by the time racing got underway, the rain had stopped, and even the sun was tempted out to witness some excellent action!

Heat 1 started with 323 Geoff Roberts introducing 258 Wills to the brand new fence on turn 3, as 821 Bennett spun in to take a jacking from 97 Jackson. 409 Collins led the race over the opening laps, before going out, handing over to fellow Team Mental driver 90 Mark Bartlett. 252 Steven Bugler followed in 516 Carl Gould on turn 1, as 557 Jon Small spun hard into the fence on turn 3. 437 Chris Bailey took a jacking on turn 4, as 166 Dave Spooner jacked 557 Small, with 90 Bartlett taking the honour of being the first winner.

A three car train consisting of 245 Jack France, 333 Chris Golding and 449 Will Guppy crashed in on the restart, with Guppy taking a jacking from 706 Danny Lucas. 231 Stuart Dunn weighed into Lucas, as 379 Adrian Clifton took the win, with 158 Shane Davies chasing him over the line.

154 de Paiva spun on turn 4 as heat 3 started, the pack crashing into him, with 88 Tim McDonald getting caught up to end parked on the exit of turn 4. 159 Mitchell Mills clipped McDonald to rip off his wheel, causing a stoppage. 348 Sonny Sherwood and 190 Steve Bailey swapped places for the lead on the restart, before Bailey followed in 64 Andrew Francis on turn 1. 782 Glenn Boyce then picked up 190 Bailey and crashed him into the parked up 480 Richard Chilton on turn 3, with 262 Buddy James weighing hard into Bailey. 514 Marty Eighteen then jacked 262 James, the pair of them ending on turn 4, where 247 Lee Clarke gave Eighteen a hefty T-bone against the fence. 133 Wyatt jacked 247 Clarke, as 190 Bailey sought revenge with a huge blitz to 262 James, as 348 Sherwood took the win.

Heat 4 saw a turn 4 pile up develop as 399 Phil Cullen was stuffed hard into 788 Steve Bessant. 341 Jones followed in 79 Curtis Robinson on turn 3. Another car park end pile up saw 700 Gurman jack 196 Palmer, before Gurman was wrecked by 341 Jones, the red flags coming out to check on Gurman. 194 Steve Anscombe headed the restart, as 710 Ben Wilkins stuffed 48 Dave Webb into the pile up. 194 Anscombe then followed in 71 Ciran Carton into the pit gate, where he was jacked by 208 Jimmy Randall. 208 Randall went on to follow 256 Shaun Kelly into the pile up, 197 Peter Dodge blitzing Randall. Randall got going again, only to take further damage via a back straight shot from 194 Anscombe, as 741 Luke Parfitt claimed the chequered.

536 Annette Nicholls was stuffed into 364 Nathan Olden at the start of the first consolation, as 159 Mills spun on turn 4 to take a big head on from 409 Collins. 592 Marchant hit Collins, only to take a portion from 480 Chilton, with 106 McKnight firing into him for a four car jacking train. 988 Billy Dennison blitzed 433 Ben Smith, as 97 Jackson destroyed 59 James Emerson on turn 2. 28 Dan Caplin jacked 97 Jackson, with 23 Barry Staples firing into him. Staples then got totalled as 66 Mark Rogers and 988 Dennison thundered in, with the race being stopped for a loose wheel. The race was restarted, before it was realised that 23 Staples was still trapped in his car, and was quickly stopped to give him the help he needed, with the result standing in favour of 166 Spooner.

A big field for consolation 2 saw most of them crash out in a monster turn 2 pile up, as the Posh Wash/Team Mental war continued on turn 4, with 341 Jones weighing into 984 Andy Nutley, before 731 Dyer attacked Jones. Dyer came under fire from 228 Tom Caplin, before 80 Matt Nutley weighed into him, the drivers emerging from their wrecks and all shaking hands. 341 Jones took further damage from 252 Bugler, as the remaining runners 25 Mark Thomas, 925 Terry Boxell and 252 Bugler crashed into the pile up to leave no cars running, Bugler getting the win as the last car.

The Final was a high speed affair with little crashing, 90 Bartlett coming through in his rapid XJ for a heat and Final double.

A huge field for the DD saw the action start on turn 3 with a pile up forming, as 10 Paul Whiteman was hit by 204 Callard to get airborne, 710 Wilkins weighing into Callard. 333 Golding sought revenge by attacking Wilkins, as 331 Jackson met Golding head-on, with 11 Thomas hitting Jackson. 409 Collins T-boned 199 Wyatt as 331 Jackson took a monster blitz from 197 Dodge, both cars getting airborne on the home straight. 710 Wilkins hit Dodge, as the red flags came out to check on Jackson, who was OK. On the restart, 702 Dodge collected the fence on turn 1, with 10 Whiteman then hitting him, before Whiteman came under fire from 528 Hunt. A train of 4 cars went fencebound on turn 3, made up of 433 Smith, 48 Webb, 670 Flockton and 66 Rogers, as 190 Bailey hit 528 Hunt, only to get totalled by 731 Dyer and 206 Dave King, leaving the back end of Bailey’s Jag snapped. This just left 66 Rogers for the win, to end a highly entertaining meeting.

A good turnout of Stock Rods, including Westcountryman 125 Mike Hibberd.

212 Scott Tait led heat 1, as the slippery turn 1 claimed 163 Jason Pickett, 101 John Bowring and 447 Stuart Smyth. 194 Tony Barnes took over the lead, as 168 Andy Sturt spun on the home straight. 212 Tait lost control on turn 1 to go into the fence and hit the stationary 163 Pickett, as 194 Barnes took the win, with 579 Daniel Harris second after a close battle with 514 Gavin Pike and 313 Jamie Bowring.

163 Pickett clipped a turn 3 marker tyre in the second heat to get the rear of his car airborne, the same marker tyre also getting clipped by 486 Jon Wood, before it caused 106 John Ridley to half spin and tangle with 8 Stuart Bibby. 313 Bowring hit the fence on turn 2, as the leading 514 Pike was challenged by 579 Harris, before 194 Barnes swept through on the inside. 514 Pike got leant out into the pit gate to cause a stoppage, with 194 Barnes away on the restart. 213 Graham Moreton overhauled 91 Wayne Leedell for second, as Barnes took his second win of the day and 418 Patrick Smith Jnr tangled with 486 Wood.

The Final was led away by 194 Barnes, with 579 Harris on his tail. 71 John Smith proved difficult to pass and held up the pack, with 447 Smyth and 171 Dean O’Dell eventually getting by on the outside. 213 Moreton was closing on the front pair in the latter stages of the race, but 194 Barnes was not going to be headed and claimed his hattrick.

Heat 1 started with 215 Geoff Nickolls and then 280 Colin Nairn spinning on turn 3, as 214 Adam Slater passed early leader 212 Danny Wainman. Wainman came back to reclaim his lead, as the Scrivens, 11 Neil and 12 Michael, caught the front pair for a four-way scrap. However, they were holding each other up, and 1 Stuart Smith Jnr reeled them in, hitting 212 Wainman and 214 Slater aside on turn 1 to take over the lead. 1 Smith went on for the win, while 259 Paul Hines dished out a last bend hit to 4 Dan Johnson, but T-boned him to deny both drivers a top ten finish.

The second heat was led by 246 Ian Brickley, with 415 Russell Cooper in pursuit. 337 Dave Willis and 441 John Lawn fought over third, as 246 Brickley crashed into the back of 142 Rob Whitaker and into a marker tyre, allowing 415 Cooper to take the lead. Brickley and Whitaker came to a halt on the back straight, causing a stoppage, with 441 Lawn overhauling Cooper on the restart to take the win.

352 Rory Foster and 41 Robert Broome hit the back straight fence early in the consolation, as 4 Johnson picked up a flat in a turn 4 skirmish. 246 Brickley tangled with 4 Johnson on the back straight to get launched into a roll and end on his roof (missed by many on the home straight, us included!) to cause a stoppage. Brickley emerged unscathed, with 352 Foster the leader for the restart. 8 Mick Harris overhauled Foster, while behind 2 Paul Harrison, 335 Mark Woodhull and 195 Dean Whitwell engaged in battle, with Whitwell eventually spinning and T-boning 215 Nickolls on turn 4. The pair got going again, for Nickolls to spin Whitwell on turn 2, as 8 Harris claimed the win.

91 Tony Smith soon collected the fence in the Final, as 97 Murray Harrison hit 55 Craig Finnikin hard and spun him out. 65 Iain Stirk and 215 Nickolls both spun out, as the leading 212 Wainman had to retire with a flat rear. The race was then halted with 37 Chris Cowley having joined the fenced 91 Smith, with 462 Scott Davids leading the restart. 242 David Nickolls gave chase, as 1 Smith hit 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr wide on turn 1. 12 Scriven then dished out a big hit to 515 Wainman to send him wide on turn 3, Wainman recovering to battle with 2 Harrison. 462 Davids went out to get bundled round by the battling Wainman and Harrison, with 259 Paul Hines taking the lead. 1 Smith reeled him in and dished out a big last bend hit, both cars going wide, with Hines just beating Smith by centimetres in the scramble to the line for his first shale Final win.

280 Nairn collected the back straight fence early in the National. 231 Mark Peters set the pace, before nearly getting caught up in a turn 3 melee, but managed to maintain the gap over the chasing 380 Steven Cayzer. Towards the closing stages of the race, 462 Davids gave 65 Stirk a big hit into turn 3, sending him hard into the plating. 231 Peters went on for the win, while 1 Smith got the better of 515 Wainman on the last lap, only for Wainman to give Smith a last bender and regain his place. Sadly after the race it was found that 65 Stirk was hurt and complaining of neck pains. The emergency services had to be called out and he was cut from his car, but thankfully he was released from hospital the next day with some bad bruising – hope you feel better soon Iain!

An excellent turnout of cars, although a number of drivers from the Lancashire area had a nightmare journey with part of the M6 shut.

Heat 1 started with a number of spin-outs, including 968 Mickey Brennan, and he delayed 401 Barry Goldin. 662 Steve Wycherley soon led, but he was sent wide on turn 1 via the bumper of the backmarking 968 Brennan. 662 Wycherley then got going again, only to tangle with 332 Chris Eaton on the back straight, and they both hit the fence, as 968 Brennan rode over the infield kerb to avoid them. 19 Martin Ford took over the lead, as 431 Andy Gibbs collected the fence, with the yellow flags coming out. 927 Jonathan Shepley was spun on turn 4 by 401 Goldin as the race restarted to shed his rear wheel, as a melee formed on turn 4. 494 John Dowson Jnr took to the inside to avoid the chaos, only to ride over the loose wheel for a big wheelie, with the race being halted. 70 Brian Shadbolt led the restart, as 29 Chad Harris and 377 Daz Shaw spun out on the pit bend. 140 Stuart Haywood crashed exiting turn 2, with 70 Shadbolt taking the win.

225 Tony Blackburn spun early in the second heat, as 7 Gordon Moodie and 554 Stuart Finnikin tangled on the back straight. 275 Mark Adkins spun o turn 4 to take a T-bone from 779 Cameron Pugh, before 191 Jon Whittle Jnr and 76 Chris Rowe hooked together, with Whittle being forced into the armco, causing a stoppage. 125 Craig Kendall headed the restart, but he was soon overhauled by 145 Graham Mole. 275 Adkins spun on turn 4 to take a head-on from 748 Jason Irving, as 511 Martyn Coles rode over 431 Gibbs. 145 Mole stayed in the lead to claim the flag.

A freshly watered track for the consolation made the corners slippery, withy a small pile up soon forming on turn 1, before the race was cautioned. 520 Jason Clarke led the restart, before he spun with 275 Adkins, with 376 Darren Seneschall T-boning 520 Clarke. 554 Finnikin rode over 917 Nigel Wiles on turn 4 to roll onto his side for another stoppage. 332 Eaton headed the field for the restart, as 76 Rowe twice tangled with 275 Adkins. 7 Gordon Moodie reeled in Eaton in the closing stages and tried the inside line with a lap to go. However, Eaton held him off to the last bend, where Moodie dished out a big hit to send them both wide. 19 Ford came through on the inside, and in the mad scramble to the line, he just beat Moodie for the win by not much more than a bumper’s thickness!

The Final fielded all qualifiers, with 702 Cooper clambering up the side of 225 Blackburn on turn 4 as they spun out. 927 Jonathan Shepley then rode over 520 Clarke on turn 4, before 136 Ford did likewise to 125 Kendall. 741 Luke Branston spun at the end of the home straight, where 917 Wiles ran into him, causing a stoppage. 406 Simon Mawdsley led the restart, as a turn 1 bundle saw 7 Moodie get spun as 13 Ford T-boned 380 Steven Cayzer. 886 Chris Bradbury and 606 Andrew Palmer tangled off turn 4 to slam into the fence, the race being halted again to check on Palmer. 332 Eaton led the field for the restart, and was quick to get away. 7 Moodie spun and tangled with 609 Brandon Davies, as 332 Eaton maintained his lead to take the win.

The National was soon led by 68 Dave Brennan, as 702 Cooper crashed into the pit gate. 448 John Wright rode over 446 Matt Metcalf in a turn 4 melee, as 7 Moodie spun on turn 4 before ramming 968 Brennan. 68 Brennan stayed in the lead, but on the last bend, 599 Jon Lawrence went for a massive lunge, catching Brennan in the side of his car. This sent Lawrence into a big rollover onto his roof to spin round, the momentum briefly sending Brennan over onto his side before returning back onto all fours. Lawrence ended on his roof, as the race was red flagged. The result was taken from the last completed lap, giving 68 Brennan the win, with this exciting incident ending an excellent, action packed F2 session.

Heat 1 started with 73 Dean Cruickshank giving 143 Martin Wilkes a hefty jack going into turn 3, before a pile of cars went crashing into the armco on turn 3/4 with 266 Callum Hall getting spun out. With those pushing from behind, namely 70 Anthony Long, 65 Dave Holland and 166 Mark Fletcher, 146 O’Connor was forced broadside into the armco and over onto his side. The race then went quiet, with the remainder of the field spread out, and 572 Paul Scully claimed the win.

Heat 2 saw 266 Hall fenced by 353 Sean Mullins, before 8 Owen stuffed 43 Nicky Bishop on turn 4. 748 Graham Kiddle was jacked by 60 Kyle Stevenson on turn 4, leaving Kiddle stuck on the home straight, as 269 Dean French spun 949 Smith at speed on the back straight. 748 Kiddle took a further jacking from 73 Cruickshank, as 730 Dean Mayes took the chequered.

A depleted field for the King of the Midlands Final saw 8 Owen ram 98 Harrison, before taking a hit from 60 Stevenson. 99 Scott Gough jacked 266 Hall on the infield, as 73 Cruickshank weighed into 8 Owen on the back straight. 98 Harrison blew up in a cloud of steam, as 730 Mayes took the title and his second win of the night.

A good turnout of the Heritage Juniors, with 716 Roy Clarke making a good start in the first heat to break away from the chasing pack. 791 Richard Hart made good progress, and started reeling in Clarke, but the laps ran out and the 716 pilot claimed the win, while 722 Clive Beales hooked up with 36 Jim Smith just yards from the finish line.

A faster heat 2 again saw 716 Clarke take an early lead, but the field kept with him this time. 709 Kelvin Cooper and 616 Darren Clarke hooked up coming out of turn 4, Cooper spinning to roll and hit the fence with his roof. The race was halted with Cooper emerging unscathed. 716 Clarke still led for the restart, but 791 Hart was flying and taking a wide line round the bends. 36 Smith briefly hooked up with 869 Mike Walmsley, as 732 Stu Bailey spun on turn 1. 791 Hart went round the outside of 716 Clarke for the lead and opened up a small gap to take victory.

A tangle on the back straight in the pack then forced 318 Allgood into the fence at speed, wrecking his front wheel and passenger side of his car for a stoppage. The restart was led away by 666 Fulker, but 308 Mark Cooper soon dived through to take over. A turn 2 melee caused 306 Reed to spin, where he was hit by 57 Gemma Dendy, and she rode over his front wheel to get airborne, following which 87 Busby spun into the fence on the back straight, with the race being stopped. The restart was led away by 666 Fulker, but 308 Cooper went past to open up a gap over the remaining distance for the win.

It was raining again for the final, with a false start as 3 Vic Hope and 172 Steve Kite spun out. 666 Fulker briefy led the opening laps, before passed by 130 Andy Lane, and the race was then halted with 268 Munday hitting the back straight fence. 130 Lane was chased for the lead by 82 Paul Jones and 197 Pagden on the restart, as 75 Chris Crane spun on the back straight. 308 Cooper made good progress through the field, as 197 Pagden moved into second and tried the outside of Lane, only to get hampered by a backmarker. 75 Crane spun and tangled with 3 Hope on the back straight, as 666 Fulker spun on turn 1. 130 Lane stayed in the lead to take the flag.
